10 Square

10 Square is a youth arts training centre on the tenth floor of Orchard Central, run by The RICE Company Limited. The space began life as a car park, which Far East Organization handed to TRCL and helped convert into roughly 13,000 square feet of studios and performance space for young artists. Inside are a theatre-auditorium seating 112, three music studios, a dance studio, a visual arts studio, an arena, seminar and conference rooms, and a café. The centre is the training home for beneficiaries of The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, who receive sponsored arts training, and its Arts Incubation Programme gives youths a structured two-year route across art forms including music, dance, theatre and visual arts, alongside business fundamentals such as finance and arts management. Its sister programme, the Little Arts Academy, covers younger children. Rooms are also hired out to outside groups: the auditorium comes with a stage, basic sound and lighting and wireless microphones, and the White Room conference space seats 16 to 18. Enquiries about programmes or venue hire can be made on 6835 8170. This is a venue and youth arts centre rather than a conventional walk-in music school.
