2pianoteachers

2pianoteachers is the teaching studio of Laurence Yu and Midorie Tjiawi, a married couple who are both trained performing pianists, teaching from their music studio at 15 Bedok Reservoir View. Yu comes from Hong Kong and Tjiawi from Indonesia, and between them they bring decades of performing and teaching experience to private piano tuition. Their students have gone on in every direction: some have entered Singapore's arts institutions, including NAFA, Lasalle College of the Arts and SOTA, while others keep piano as a serious amateur pursuit and perform publicly. Before founding the studio, Yu taught piano from his teens in Hong Kong, later served as a Senior Music Teacher at Agape Music School in Singapore, coached school concert bands and choirs, and in 2014 co-founded the Kodály Academy of Music (Singapore); his professional memberships have included the Singapore Music Teachers' Association and the choral and band directors' associations. The studio presents its work under the banner of nurturing interest and enhancing artistry, and keeps a performance gallery of student playing. Enquiries are taken on +65 9187 1105, and the studio also maintains an email and Instagram presence linked from its website.
