555Beatbox Initiative

555Beatbox Academy, listed here as the 555Beatbox Initiative, is Singapore's dedicated beatbox school, based at 994 Bendemeer Road. It teaches vocal percussion as a structured discipline through its own 555 Quintet Syllabus of five curriculum modules, which moves students through Level 1 Beatboxer, Level 2 Artist and Level 3 Performer and Battler, with examinations and certifications along the way. Classes are split by age: a flagship beatbox course for children aged 5 to 16, youth classes for ages 17 to 25, adult classes for ages 26 and up, and a preschool programme from age 4 that builds phonics, diction and rhythm through beatboxing. Private one-to-one coaching is held at the student's preferred location, and the academy also runs MOE school programmes - assembly shows, workshops and CCA training - plus programmes for private and international schools and workshops for corporate and family groups. Its instructors include champions such as Handfx, Varen and Inovity, several of them MOE-registered, and the academy puts its free Online Beatbox Manual on its website for anyone to learn the sounds. It also organises the LionCity Beatbox Championships and Cubcity competitions, and its classes run across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
