Belcanto Violins

Belcanto Violins pairs a violin school with a specialist violin shop at 72 Cairnhill Road, in the Cairnhill and Orchard area. Every student is taught by founder and Principal Vivienne Eio or one of her associate teachers, and every new student starts with a compulsory 30 to 45 minute trial lesson, booked and paid in advance, so a programme can be planned around that player's goals. Private lessons prepare students for Direct School Admission (DSA) auditions, ABRSM grading, competitions and performances, with technique refined lesson by lesson. One-to-one online lessons run over Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat or Zoom in 15-minute blocks, while advanced players who study elsewhere can book masterclasses to deepen specific repertoire. Vivienne also trains orchestras and school string ensembles as a consultant, including preparation for the Singapore Youth Festival. Students stay motivated through monthly concerts, annual overseas performance trips and a yearly Grade 8 camp. The shop side stocks the studio's own BV-series violins alongside violas, bows and accessories, each instrument photographed and recorded unprocessed for transparent comparison. Visits are by appointment only; the studio's own website lists violin, viola, cello, piano and music theory tuition across the teaching team.
