Dedrick Koh Classical Guitar

Three minutes' walk from Sengkang MRT, in a humidity-controlled studio at 224D Compassvale Walk, Dedrick Koh teaches classical guitar only, privately since 2006. His syllabus is proprietary and modern, spanning classical, romantic, baroque, renaissance, and modern eras, with popular music introduced once a student has the prerequisite skills, and pacing set by the student's ability rather than a fixed class timeline. Solo classes run across four levels from beginner (Grades 0-2) to advanced (Grades 7-8), while duo classes let two friends or family members learn together. Children from age seven are taught with smaller instruments provided, and one parent may sit in or observe by webcam. Exam candidates are prepared for ABRSM and Trinity College of London classical guitar exams from Initial to Grade 8, and the site states a 100 percent pass rate. Weekly one-hour lessons run 48 weeks a year around four weeks of term breaks, guitars and footstools are provided in class, and online lessons over Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime are available. Rescheduling is capped: at most two classes rescheduled at any time, each class only once, within 30 days of its original date. Trial lessons are a single paid lesson, and popular slots typically carry a two-to-three-month wait.
