Drums are the whole curriculum at DrumTannery, not one instrument among many, and the school runs that focus across two Singapore studios. Founder Dane Tan gave his first drum lessons in 2010, added a Dhoby Ghaut branch at Parklane Shopping Mall, 35 Selegie Road, #03-26, in 2021, and opened the flagship Marine Parade branch at Parkway Centre, 1 Marine Parade Central, #09-09, in 2022, right beside Marine Parade MRT Exit A. Teaching follows a concept-based approach: grips, rhythm theory, coordination, rudiments, and ear training first, with students moving on to playing real songs within weeks. Most instructors teach full time and complete 120 hours of initial training plus 30 hours of maintenance training each year. Rooms are soundproofed and fitted with full-sized acoustic drums, Bose Professional sound systems, and a 40-inch TV for lesson materials, while a waiting area with WiFi serves parents and partners, and a retail corner stocks sticks, pads, and kits from brands including PDP, DW, Yamaha, Zildjian, and Pantheon Percussion. Courses split by age: Kids, Teenagers, and Adults one-to-one, plus a two-person group class for adults only, all run on monthly billing across three-month terms of twelve lessons, with a one-time paid trial lesson for newcomers.
