Eason Music

Few Singapore music schools can point to a 1978 founding, and Eason Music leans on that history as a Chinese orchestra specialist rather than a general music school. The business began as a family shop founded by Mr Tan Chin Siong and is run today by Managing Partner Tan Sung Wah, teaching at its CT Hub studio at 2 Kallang Avenue, #02-08, a second studio at 114 Lavender Street, #02-66, students' homes, and online. The instrument list is wide: Erhu, Guzheng, Pipa, Dizi, Yangqin, Guqin, Sheng, Zhongruan, and Chinese percussion, taught to children, adults, and seniors. Lessons are private and one-to-one, typically 45 to 60 minutes, arranged at the student's preferred timing, billed monthly with no lock-in contract, and missed lessons can be made up. Students choose a leisure or exam track, with TENG and NAFA grading preparation, Direct School Admission coaching, yearly exams, recitals, and orchestra chances. The Zhongruan, or moon lute, shows the teaching style well: a four-string instrument the school calls forgiving for beginners, taught from Chinese numerical notation and basic plucking patterns up through graded repertoire. Seniors get their own on-ramp in the Silver Wellness Guzheng group, using simple numbered notation with instruments provided in class. Beyond lessons, Eason runs an instrument store, repairs instruments, and fields a fusion ensemble for weddings and corporate events.
