Echo Groove Music Academy

Playing together sits at the heart of Echo Groove Music Academy in Hillview, where guitar, bass, and drum lessons are built around group joy as much as individual progress. The studio stands at 63 Hillview Avenue, #10-19, in the Lam Soon Industrial Building, near Hillview MRT on the Downtown Line. Students aged six and up, from beginners to advanced players, take monthly packages of four personalised individual lessons at 30, 45, or 60 minutes, while guitar group classes run with up to three students for 60 minutes. The curriculum works through proper technique and posture, rhythm and groove across styles from swing and shuffle to disco, samba, rock, and bossa nova, and musicianship skills including sight-reading, chart writing, and ear training, with intermediate drummers also learning drum mic setup and recording basics. Two named teachers lead the work: Joshua Lau, a Yamaha-endorsed guitarist and Victorian College of the Arts graduate with twelve years of experience, and Yang, a Berklee graduate and drummer with fifteen years of experience. Recording facilities let students capture high-quality performances, quarterly recitals give stage goals, and band chances build musical communication. Parents may attend the first two lessons, cancellations need twenty-four hours' notice, and a free trial opens the door.
