Get to know us.
Herman Piano Studio in Tampines East is built around principal teacher Mr Herman Ho, who holds the ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance with Distinction and ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory with Distinction, and began piano at 17, reaching Grade 8 within a year. His pupils have reached Grade 8 certification, the youngest at ten, and won competition prizes. Lessons are masterclass-style, in a classroom with two pianos side by side from day one, including a Yamaha YUS-5, and every student is shown exactly how to practise, building technique, tone control, coordination and expression.
Classes cover beginner and kids piano, adult and leisure playing, ABRSM piano exams and music theory from Grade 1 to 8, and a piano diploma programme. Beginners spend one to two years on a beginner course before exam grades, then sit exams once a year, though exams are never compulsory. Pupils may perform on stage from beginner level, enter competitions, and siblings can attend together and duet with each other or the teacher. New students get a 30-minute free trial class. The studio, at 451 Tampines Street 42 near Simei, Pasir Ris and Bedok, opens Wednesday to Friday 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and weekends 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM; call 9815 7604, noting places are limited by the teacher's availability.
