J Music (Adult Drum Lessons)

J Music answers a very specific frustration: adults who want to learn drums but feel out of place sitting beside children in a general music school. Founded by Jason, who says he rebuilt the school entirely for adults after starting it in 2014, J Music runs its adult drum lessons from 865 Mountbatten Road, #02-47, Katong Shopping Centre, and can be reached on 9476 4068. The school's own pages describe a 100% adult environment with high-end Roland drum kits, weekly recordings of each student's playing, a dedicated student portal, and premium drum scores transcribed in-house, spanning K-pop, J-pop, Mandopop and Christian songs. Teaching follows an original step-by-step curriculum from basic technique to advanced rhythms, delivered as weekly lessons on a Grade 1 to 8 pathway, with Trinity College London exams optional rather than required for progression. A one-to-one trial lesson costs $50 on the school's own site, lasts 30 minutes, and is non-refundable and non-transferable, so it suits adults ready to commit to a fixed weekly schedule.
