Jazz Ninja

Jazz Ninja is not a conventional neighbourhood music school: it is an online jazz piano community built around its founder, Jordan Wei, and his instructional book Finger Tips, launched in 2018. The book promises to take players of any level towards a professional jazz piano sound within 52 weeks of intensive training, using minimal explanatory text and three modes of learning, traditional notation, musical alphabets and keyboard diagrams, plus weekly and daily practice schedules. Membership of the online community adds hundreds of video tutorials and thousands of downloadable chord charts and sheet music, spanning English, Chinese, Malay and Thai pop, K-pop and jazz favourites. Wei is presented as a professional keyboardist who has played and recorded for artists including David Tao, Wang Lee Hom and JJ Lin, and who has run workshops for schools such as Methodist School of Music and Verve Music School. An internship programme is offered for selected individuals aiming to go professional. The directory gives a Toa Payoh address, 36 Lorong 5 Toa Payoh, Block 36, and contact 8382 8057, but the business's own site describes an online community rather than a walk-in studio. The directory files Jazz Ninja under Vocal and Violin; its own site supports neither, since the whole offer is jazz and contemporary piano.
