Monteiro Piano - Piano Lessons Bukit Timah

Right in the heart of Bukit Timah, Monteiro Piano is a specialist piano studio in Binjai Park where graded, recreational, theory, Music Elective Programme and diploma lessons all sit under one teacher, John Monteiro. He brings twenty years of teaching experience, a Masters research degree in music from the University of Glasgow, a Licentiate diploma from the London College of Music, and doctoral study of Chopin mazurkas at the University of Leeds. Graded classical lessons run from beginner to ABRSM Grade 8, with repertoire, scales and arpeggios, sight reading, aural training, theory, solfege and improvisation, while recreational lessons drop the exam pressure in favour of classical pieces and pop songs. One-to-one lessons run 45 or 60 minutes once a week, with group theory also offered, and the studio holds two Yamaha upright pianos plus a grand piano, so duets and a weekly masterclass setting are built into the week. Annual student recitals double as exam dress rehearsals and charity fundraisers, with proceeds supporting needy children in Singapore. The contact number is 9843 3531.
