MW School of Music

MW School of Music, previously known as Music Workshop, was founded in 2004 by Ms Khoong Shok Meng (Kellie) and teaches near Mayflower MRT station on Thomson Road. The school covers music education for all ages and levels, from elementary learners through to professional diplomas, with practical and theory components taught side by side in every lesson rather than as separate tracks. Its stated courses include piano performance for leisure or examinations, theory courses in regular or intensive holiday formats, and the Music Elective and O Level course for secondary school students, following syllabuses from the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Trinity College London for theory diplomas. At grades six to eight, students also study music history, score reading and basic harmonisation and melody writing. The school aims for children who start young to reach Grade 8 by Primary 6 or Secondary 2, and it offers recitals and concerts so students gain performance experience.
