Parampara

Parampara is a Singapore society devoted to Indian classical music and dance, based at 1 Brooke Road, Singapore 429979. Its own site sets out a broad mission: researching the tradition, promoting its aesthetics and values, and helping aspiring talents in Singapore reach high standards of performance. Rather than a single class format, Parampara organises musical concerts, ensembles, workshops and master-classes, and works to build awareness of the life history and work of legendary artists in the tradition. The site traces the tradition back through centuries of development across the Indian subcontinent, noting how Hindustani music diverged from Carnatic music and absorbed influences from Persian, Arabic, Chinese and other musical practices. For anyone drawn to this heritage, the society offers a community of like-minded, musically motivated people rather than a conventional school timetable. Enquiries go through the listing, which also carries the contact number 8138 7674 and a Verified Partner mark. Class instruments, age groups, schedules and fees were not stated on the homepage read, so confirm those details before enrolling.
