School of Music and the Arts (SOMA)

The School of Music and the Arts, SOMA, occupies 6 Raffles Boulevard, #03-142/143/144, Marina Square, Singapore 039594, and can be reached on 6884 3611 or info@soma.edu.sg. It is not a per-instrument lesson studio, despite what the directory categories suggest: since 2005 it has run diploma and certificate programmes in songwriting, music production and audio engineering, describing itself as the first in Singapore to offer a songwriting diploma and its audio engineering diploma as the country's longest-running. Its diplomas are recognised by Berklee College of Music and AIM, with an AIM partnership giving graduates direct admission and an accelerated path into year two of bachelor's programmes, and its faculty includes graduates of Berklee, Full Sail University and the Royal College of Music who have worked with artists including JJ Lin and Stefanie Sun. Facilities fitted with industry equipment, microphones, instruments and software plug-ins are open to students seven days a week, and part-time evening options serve working adults, while Performance Labs run for ages 5 to 65 and certificate courses cater to beginners with no music qualifications.
