Looking for pop vocal lessons and pop piano lessons in Singapore? Seed Music Singapore is a music school at 195 Pearl's Hill Terrace, near Chinatown (Chinatown MRT Exit C or Outram Exit 3), built around the motto "No Pain, Yes Gain".
Lessons and programmes
- Pop vocals: a four-step syllabus from diaphragmatic breathing and basic pitch and rhythm to open-throat technique, vowel and pitch placement, dynamics, vibrato and vocal agility. Kids, teens, working adults and senior citizens are all taught.
- Pop piano: learn your favourite pop songs through chords, left-hand patterns, accompaniment styles, chord progressions and improvisation, with a focus on chord reading rather than five-line score reading.
- Pop guitar and ukulele: strumming, fingerstyle and play-and-sing coordination, progressing from basic chords to barre chords, scales and solos. The ukulele course covers tuning, chords and finger picking, and the school provides ukuleles for practice.
- Lyrics writing course: a weekly course with lyricist Colin Qi over two months, for 2 to 12 students per class.
- Songwriting service: custom songs, jingles, lyric writing, co-writing and arrangement.
Why students choose Seed Music
Lessons are customised to each student's level and interests and cover technique, theory and performance. The school states there are no prerequisites, and most learners start from zero background. Students can choose group or solo classes, and shift workers can arrange ad-hoc scheduling in private coaching. Course fees are paid monthly for 4 lessons, with no registration fee or advance deposit. Missed lessons can be made up within 5 weeks.
Facilities and performance opportunities
The studio has a main area, vocal and piano rooms and a production room. Students can perform through the school's Sofa Session, and teachers can help with music certification preparation on request.

Common questions.
No. There is no prerequisite for any Seed Music course, and most learners start from zero background.
Yes. Group classes give more exposure to other students, while solo classes let you focus on your own learning objectives. The school says group classes are usually the way to go, but it depends on your preference and goals.
Course fees are payable monthly for 4 lessons. There are no additional charges such as advance deposits or registration fees.
A make-up lesson can be arranged within 5 weeks; otherwise the lesson is not credited. You can also defer lessons if you will be away for a period and rejoin the same or another class when you return.
Seed Music is open every day except public holidays. Lessons falling on a public holiday are rescheduled, or not counted if no replacement can be arranged.
Yes. Tell the school which certification board you want to prepare for and the teachers can help with the required repertoire and musical exercises.
Pop piano lessons do not emphasise five-line score reading. Students learn chord reading and the formats that apply to all music instead.
