Singapore Music Teachers Association

The Singapore Music Teachers' Association, or SMTA, is a teachers' association rather than a walk-in music school, and its listing address is 9 King Albert Park, #01-38 KAP, with 6345 8021 as the contact number. What it actually runs, on its own site, is a professional community built around performance and pedagogy: the Singapore Performers' Festival, now in its 9th edition in 2026, and the Le Petit Performers' Fest for younger musicians, alongside pedagogy workshops, coaching and Coffee Talk seminars on teaching, performance and career development. Workshop topics on the current site range from Malay Asli music tradition to piano tone production and classical improvisation, and festival awards have included scholarships and cash prizes for pianists and string players. The association marked its 60th anniversary in 2026, and its site names Julie Tan as its president. Anyone approaching SMTA should therefore expect membership, festivals and teacher development, not ordinary weekly instrument lessons for the general public.
