✦About
Get to know us.
The Singapore Symphony Children's Choir, or SSCC, is the children's choir of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and it trains young singers through a progressive programme rather than casual drop-in classes. Members join one of two phases according to musical proficiency. The Training Wing holds the Preparatory Choir 1, Preparatory Choir 2 and Training Choir, building vocal technique, sight-singing and musicianship before singers move on. The Performance Wing comprises the Concert Choir, the choir's main performing ensemble, and the Youth Choir, a bridge towards the Singapore Symphony Chorus. A separate Boys' Ensemble supports boys and young men whose voices are changing, with healthy, safe technique for the transition. Repertoire centres on symphonic choral masterworks, alongside opera, jazz, songs in languages from around the world and works by local composers. Rehearsals are usually held on Saturdays between 10am and 6pm in the Dance or Music Studios at Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, and performances are compulsory.
