Sonora Music School

Sonora Music School sits at 613 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore, where its name, Spanish for 'rich in sound', sets the tone for a school led by performing professionals. Founder and artistic director Val Chong, a New England Conservatory graduate with a Master of Music in Voice and Opera, personally mentors and trains every teacher, and the faculty are active performers. Lessons cover piano, violin, cello, vocal and guitar, with piano study running from foundational technique through ABRSM Grade 8 and diploma, and vocal teaching offered in both classical and contemporary or pop styles. Beyond individual instruments, Sonora runs a Junior Academy of group music and movement for ages four to five, Advanced Music Studies for DSA, MEP and conservatory preparation, a ten-week group Music Production course from age fifteen, and Music Theory in group or one-to-one formats. Teaching is personalised around each student's goals, pace and learning style, whether beginner or advanced, and a 45-minute trial lesson is offered at $60. The school is open daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and can be reached on +65 8338 4705.
