About

Get to know us.

Studio Asobi is a home pottery studio in Hougang, near Kovan MRT, run by full-time potters Kenneth and Huiwen, who started it in 2014 after leaving corporate careers. The name comes from asobi, meaning play in Japanese, and the studio treats pottery as a slow, playful craft rather than a production line. Its Living Clay Pottery Workshop is a single 3-hour session for beginners, teaching hand-building and coiling to make a cup, bowl or small planter, with a guided trial on the electric wheel included. Sessions are kept cosy at generally up to 7 people, with complimentary drinks and snacks, and are mainly scheduled on Saturday afternoons from 2:30 to 5:30pm, with some weekday mornings available. Workshops are catered primarily for adults, while children aged 7 and up may join alongside an adult participant, and finished vessels are ready for collection in approximately 2 to 3 weeks after drying, glazing and firing. The workshop is also eligible for SG Culture Pass credits, and the studio additionally makes personalised vessels, sculptures and installations and runs team-building sessions.
