The Songwriter Music College

The Songwriter Music College (TSMC) in Joo Chiat is a specialist college for songwriters and music producers, not a general instrument school. It describes itself as the first music college in Singapore to provide diplomas specialising in songwriting, and its named qualifications are the Diploma in Songwriting and Music Performance and the Diploma in Songwriting and Music Production. Teaching is by current industry practitioners sharing chart-topping methodologies, and learning is presented as experiential and holistic, in an environment the college calls a home away from home for learning, development and collaboration. Oversight comes from an Industry Advisory Board that includes veteran singer Wakin Chau, former Warner Chappell Asia president Monica Lee and mm2 Asia chief executive Chang Long Jong. TSMC began as an initiative by Funkie Monkies together with mm2 Asia as strategic partner, and its sister company, Funkie Monkies Publishing, acts as a publishing arm to help students publish their songs internationally, giving students a direct link to the working music industry. The directory lists the college at 406 Joo Chiat Place, #04-21 The Yards, with phone 6208 2727.
