Looking for piano lessons in Singapore and early childhood music classes in Katong? Joyful Hearts Music Studio is a music school at The Modules, 387 Joo Chiat Road, run by founder and principal Sheena Kang. The studio teaches piano, music theory, voice and keyboard, and is a licensed Musikgarten centre for babies, toddlers and young children.
Lessons and programmes
- Piano: individual lessons (or groups of up to 3) covering technique, sight-reading and aural skills, plus duet classes, masterclasses, quarterly digital recitals and an annual celebration concert. Students can follow the ABRSM syllabus and sit internal or official ABRSM exams. Zoom lessons are available on request.
- Music theory: integrated into piano lessons for Grades 1-5, taught separately from Grade 6, following the ABRSM syllabus, with drop-in group theory classes for Grades 1-5.
- Voice: classical singing lessons for all ages and levels, and the Joyful Hearts Chorale for children.
- Musikgarten: parent-accompanied Family Music classes for babies (0-18 months) and toddlers (16 months to 3.5 years), Cycle of Seasons (3.5-5 years) and Music Makers at the Keyboard (5-8 years).
- Seniors and adults: a group keyboard class for those above 55 and Musikgarten Adults, a relaxed recreational music-making class.

Musikgarten Family Music classes start from babies (0-18 months), then toddlers (16 months to 3.5 years), Cycle of Seasons (3.5-5 years) and Music Makers at the Keyboard (5-8 years). Piano, theory and voice lessons are open to children and adults, and there is a group keyboard class for seniors above 55.
Students who wish to take piano practical and music theory exams are taught the ABRSM syllabus and may sit either the studio's internal exams or official ABRSM exams.
Piano lessons can be individual or in a group of a maximum of 3 students. Duet classes are also available for students who prefer to learn with someone else. Zoom lessons are available on request.
Musikgarten is an award-winning early childhood music curriculum that uses an aural approach, singing, movement and instruments. Family Music classes are 30 minutes once a week and parent-accompanied; older children move on to Cycle of Seasons and Music Makers at the Keyboard.
