Music Forest Studio is a boutique music school at 401 Hougang Ave 10, a short walk from Hougang MRT, led by principal Lena Huang, a certified Steinway Teacher and Educational Partner with 27 years of teaching experience. The studio's motto is that no two students are alike, so every lesson is tailored to the individual student.
Lessons and programmes
- Classical Piano (beginners to diploma, age 6 and above): individual lessons of 45 or 60 minutes with optional ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and London College of Music grade examinations, covering scales, sight reading, aural training and theory.
- Leisure Piano (age 6 and above, including adults): learn popular pieces at your own level without following an exam syllabus.
- Intensive Theory: a focused Grade 5 theory course, the prerequisite for ABRSM practical Grades 6 to 8, open to players of any instrument.
- Vocal Classes: individual lessons for all ages covering vocal range, projection, pitching and confidence.
- Pop Piano (age 8 and above) and Song Writing (age 10 and above): chords, accompaniment styles, arranging, melody, lyrics, recording and production.

The Classical Piano and Leisure Piano programmes are for ages 6 and above, including adults. Pop Piano is for ages 8 and above and Song Writing for ages 10 and above. Vocal classes are open to all ages.
The piano, vocal, pop piano and song writing programmes are individual lessons only. Classical and Leisure Piano lessons run for 45 or 60 minutes depending on grade.
The Classical Piano programme supports optional ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and London College of Music grade examinations. The studio also runs mock exams and masterclasses for exam candidates.
Yes. ABRSM requires Grade 5 Theory before any Grade 6, 7 or 8 practical exam. The studio offers an Intensive Grade 5 Theory course for players of any instrument.
Monthly fees are due in the first week of the month, and payments not made by the 16th incur a $5 penalty. The studio accepts PayNow, PayLah, bank transfer and cash.
One month's advance written notice is required; otherwise the deposit is forfeited.
Yes, where needed. The instructor advises which books to buy, which are usually available at the studio counter at a discounted rate for students, and special orders can be placed.
