The school welcomes students of all ages and abilities, from preschoolers to adults, and teaches every programme through its own curriculum, The Music Circle Method.
Lessons and programmes
- Early Childhood Music Pathway (ages 2 to 5): The Mini Circle (2 years), The Tiny Circle (3 years), The Little Circle (4 years) and The Junior Circle (5 years, pre-instrumental) are music and movement classes that build rhythm, aural skills, motor coordination and creativity.
- Instrumental Academy: individual piano lessons (age 5 and above) and individual violin lessons (age 6 and above), from beginner to advanced, with an individualised repertoire plus theory and aural training built into each lesson.
- Group classes and ensembles that complement individual lessons, with juries, aural and theory assessments, performance classes, an Honours Programme and parent workshops.
- Adult lessons: a one-hour trial lesson can be arranged for adult students.
The Music Circle Method
Developed by Artistic Director Dr. Tang Tee Tong with the curriculum team, the method follows a musical progression that parallels language learning (Experience, Sing/Say, Identify, Create/Perform) and develops visual, aural and kinesthetic skills. It draws on established approaches including Gordon's Music Learning Theory, Kodaly, Dalcroze, Alexander Technique, Paul Rolland and Suzuki.

Early Childhood music and movement classes for ages 2 to 5, and Instrumental Academy lessons in piano (age 5 and above) and violin (age 6 and above). Group classes, ensembles and an Honours Programme complement individual lessons.
A trial class for Early Childhood classes (ages 2 to 5) is $40. For instrumental lessons, The Music Circle arranges a consultation with an educator to understand the student's musical background and recommend a teacher and programme.

Examinations are not the emphasis of the programme, but when a student is ready The Music Circle can prepare them for certain levels of examinations where it helps their development. Progress is tracked through juries, aural and theory assessments and performance platforms.
Instrumental Academy fees depend on the instrument and lesson duration, are the same over 12 months and are paid monthly at the start of each month. There are 46 individual lessons and 40 group or ensemble classes in a calendar year. An enrolment fee and a refundable deposit of one month's fees also apply.
All teachers have formal tertiary training in music and/or Early Childhood education. On joining they are mentored and trained through the Music Circle Teachers Academy and in The Music Circle Method.
